About me

Hi! My name is Dennis Carpenter.  I have recently retired after over 50 years of working, including 36 years in the construction industry.During my years in construction, I have worked on everything from low-income housing to multi-million-dollar mansions, nuclear power stations to high-rise office towers, even multi-million-dollar yachts. Due to an injury, I needed a new way to make a living. I took my computer hobby and made it into my career. For 10 years I worked professionally as a Computer Network EngineerI have always found a way to earn a living through economic downturns and injuries. My mantra has always been, “Do what you must do until you can do what you want to do that makes you happy. Inevitably I always returned to my mainstay love for construction.

Although I loved what I had been doing, the wear and tear on my body, living on the road away from home became too much. My body said it was time for me to retire, but my mind is still active, and I was not ready to stop. Now that I can no longer give my best to construction, it is time to again turn a page in my life, and put my computer knowledge back to effective use, keeping my mind active, occupied, and productive. As those wiser than me have often said, “Nature abhors a vacuum. The moment anything ceases to grow, it begins to die.” So, I am choosing to grow in a new direction. For the last 25 Years I have worked in a variety of positions in Construction Management. I have progressively moved up through the ranks with larger projects and more responsibilities. Most recently I have been travelling coast to coast, supervising a variety of retail projects as a Construction Superintendent.I guess you could say I am a “Jack of All Trades”. In my life I have had a variety of careers filled with various experiences. In my youth I was a Forest Ranger. I have also worked at a local televison station doing video production. As the result of a significant injury, doctors suggested that I should leave construction. I decided to make my computer hobby into my career. I worked for 10 years as a computer network engineer for both large and small businesses. The sirens call, my love for the challenge of construction became too great and I answered. Now it is time for that new direction.I have always loved to meet and work creatively in collaboration with people. As I work to establish and develop my own online presence with a retail site, I have found a niche where I think I can use my computer knowledge and skills to help people follow their own dreams. I want to leverage my computer background, creating new opportunities for others to grow their own online presence in the digital marketplace. To draw on my pool of life experiences to explore new ways to expand the marketplace of goods and services.I live on the beach so it is only natural that I should make this my business theme. I invite you to “Ride The Wave” with me. In fact for years my online handle has been AtlanticBchBum. So come on, join me and together we can explore new business ideas. I believe that as people collaborate, innovative ideas emerge. With good direction and careful nuturing those ideas can manifest into great business oportunities.
